Souvenir token from Rudolph Valentino film The Eagle
DESCRIPTION
Metal coin token from the premiere of the 1925 United Artists film The Eagle, starring Rudolph Valentino. The gold-colored token features an image of Valentino in character as Vladimir Dubrovsky and reads "Rudolph Valentino in 'The Eagle.' " Verso of coin reads "World Premiere/ Nov. 8, 1925/ Mark Strand Theatre." These coins were distributed to audience members at the Strand Theatre in New York, and Valentino is said to have thrown these from his car window in an effort to distract the crowd of fans at the premiere.
